How to cancel Audible

TL;DR
  • Spend your credits first — they expire the moment you cancel.
  • Books you've already bought stay in your library forever.
  • Cancel at audible.com/account — the app has no cancel button.
  • Pause for 1–3 months instead if you just need a break.

Step 1 — Spend your unused credits first

Unused credits expire immediately on cancellation. Each is worth $14.95+. Log in, grab anything from your wishlist, then come back to cancel. This is the single biggest mistake people make — Audible relies on it.

Step 2 — Sign in at audible.com/account

Use your Amazon credentials. Audible billing is separate from Prime, but the login is shared.

Step 3 — Account Details → Cancel membership

Hover your name (top right) → Account Details. Scroll to the bottom and click Cancel membership. Audible shows a wall of "are you sure" offers — keep clicking Continue cancellation.

Step 4 — Pause as an alternative

Halfway through the cancel flow, Audible offers a 1, 2, or 3-month pause. Billing stops, the app still works, you keep your library. Useful if you just need a break and don't want to lose your settings.
